INNER jjj DIALOGUE

I said in a different painting description that "Control" was my favorite piece, but I actually think it has to be this one. As a call back to my artist statement, how good/bad, happy/sad, etc. live all at once in every moment, I really think this piece nails the inner neurosis we may all have and don’t admit to. The phrase on the painting is lyrics from The Weeknd’s “House of Balloons,” which is a song that so perfectly captures the duality of light and dark. It’s essence is a twisted fun house. And, I don’t know, sometimes your brain is like a twisted fun house; you get trapped in it and can’t get out. Seeing distorted versions of yourself around every corner. All while trying to look perfect and pretty and like you’ve got it all figured out.
